Barbara Hill with Simon Baker

Bold Horizons organises events that are open to all-comers as well as tailored events for schools, Scouts and Guides, corporate or social groups. Our events all involve an element of navigation and may include orienteering and rogaining or be focused on building navigation skills for the Duke Of Edinburgh, Hillary Challenge or similar activities. We are based in Sydney but happy to travel (after all we love getting out and about!). Please drop us a line or give us a call and we can talk about your next adventure and how Bold Horizons can assist. During each school term we conduct the Saturday Orienteering Series across northern Sydney. This is classic orienteering and a great way to develop navigation skills, build fitness, explore Sydney and have some fun. The series is open to all – no experience is necessary. Click on the Saturday Orienteering Series link (under the Events tab) for full details.

Retracing: A Willoughby City Council curated exhibition of craft and design based objects that explore Willoughby City. Accompanied by a digital exhibition tracing the objects through their artistic sources, history and hidden creative processes. Retracing explores the influence of the local area on artists connected to Willoughby City. Presented as a craft and design based exhibition in Art Space on The Concourse, an accompanying digital exhibition traces the objects through their artistic sources, history and hidden creative processes. Each artwork is experienced through both the context of gallery presentation, and the space or creative action that informs the artwork; within the landscape, the community or the artist studio. The relationship between the static display of objects and their other life in the hands of their creators reveal artistic traces embedded within the natural and urban landscape of the Willoughby area.

Ben Farley With Simon and Mel The BBQ School

BBQ School was founded in 2004 by internationally trained chef and passionate foodie Ben Farley who identified that while many Aussies were really into cooking on the BBQ, most only had one or two recipes they knew how to cook really well. Showing keen BBQ’ers how to prepare and confidently cook a collection of simple, effective and tasty recipes was the best way forward and so in 2004 Ben turned his back on a career in Sydney and London high profile restaurants and founded BBQ School. In our classes, we assume no knowledge but have found that the more a student knows about BBQ cooking, the more they learn from our experienced chef presenters. To date around 120,000 people have been taught through the BBQ School. Our head office is in Willoughby, Sydney but we also operate regular classes in Sydney's Centennial Park, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Hunter Valley and each year the School continues to grow in response to people who wish to cook with more flair when entertaining.
