(RALPH MCTELL) On Tuesday last I was lucky enough to talk to singer/songwriter Ralph McTell. Last here in 2012, he’s back for a tour of Australian capital cities and to attend a couple of noted folk festivals. He has produced six albums to date with his 2017 acoustic blues album ‘Catfish’ reaching #1 on the Australian Blues and Roots Airplay Charts and his brand new band album ‘Bad Whiskey’ currently receiving airplay and accolades around the world. (TOM CHRISTIE) In the studio today was Novocastrian Tom Christie who is now based in Sydney. Tom is an unashamed fan of music from the 60s and he’s just released his debut album called “Canopy” that brims with the sounds of the likes of the Beach Boys and the Monkees but still keeps Christies own individual sound. (LIZA OHLBACK) In the studio today we had Liza Ohlback, originally from Tassie, growing up in the Blue Mountains and now living in Sydney she started her music life playing classics on the Cello and singing Gospel with her mom but now puts her heart into the .Blues, Jazz, Soul and Funk scene around Sydney. (MEDUSA’S WAKE) On the phone today we have John Coote, from Medusa’s Wake, a group that I would define as Irish/Australian Punk Folk. Unfortunately John was a bit pressed for time so it’s a short interview and only 2 tracks but we might get the group back in the studio sometime in the near future. (FOURPLAY STRING QUARTET) Today’s chat is with Lara Goodridge who constitutes one quarter of the Sydney based indie rock band FourPlay String Quartet. Although all members of FourPlay had formal classical training, the band play an eccentric form of rock music, with subtle influences include jewish as well as gypsy, pop, folk, hip-hop, electronica, post-rock, folktronica and many other forms. Circumstances at the time saw the demo shelved and virtually forgotten, until now.
