Ron’s Golden Oldies – Featuring – rocker Eddie Cochran

This week featuring songs from rock n roll musician, Eddie Cochran.

Streaming Live on  Northside Radio FM99.3 Sydney’s leading Community Radio Station.

Ray Edward Cochran (October 3, 1938 – April 17, 1960) was an American rock and roll musician. Cochran’s songs, such as “Twenty Flight Rock”, “Summertime Blues”, “C’mon Everybody” and “Somethin’ Else”, captured teenage frustration and desire in the mid-1950s and early 1960s. He experimented with multitrack recording, distortion techniques, and overdubbing even on his earliest singles. He played the guitar, piano, bass, and drums. His image as a sharply dressed and attractive young man with a rebellious attitude epitomized the stance of the 1950s rocker, and in death he achieved iconic status. One of his posthumous releases was “Three Stars”, a tribute to J.P. Richardson, better known as the Big Bopper, and Cochran’s friends Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens, who had all died in a plane crash just one year earlier. His biggest hit in Australia was “Summertime Blues”, reaching #18 in March 1958. In 1987, Cochran was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His songs have been recorded by a wide variety of recording artists, even into recent years.

Ron will play many of Eddie’s hits during the show this week. Text your 1955 – 1965 jukebox requests to Ron on… 0418 2468 12.
