On Ron’s Golden Oldies this week…
This week featuring Ray Brown, who we lost this month in 1996 on Ron’s 50s/60s music program this Thursday from 12 noon – 4pm on Northside Radio FM99.3
After bursting onto the pop scene at Sydney’s legendary premier discotheque of the day, Surf City in 1964, Ray Brown and The Whispers became the most successful local recording act of 1965. What followed was an unprecedented year in Australian rock music history. Their first four singles reached #1 and three hit albums were produced. Along with Billy Thorpe, Normie Rowe and others, Ray Brown appeared on every teenage music TV show, and made many live performances around Australia. Ray Brown never stopped innovating. He pioneered many aspects of the Australian music industry which are now taken for granted, although sadly he was never really recognised during his lifetime.
Ron will play some of Ray Brown and The Whispers hits during the show along with more 1950s & 60s JUKEBOX HITS, featuring the big names of the Billboard Hot 100 and our own early Top 40 charts.
Tune in, (or stream via northsideradio.com.au/audio-player) this Thursday, noon to 4pm right here on Northside Radio text requests welcome on 0418 246812
