Pop Heads

Join Jane Arakawa and Roddy Lee in the Vault of Vinyl for the POP HEADS HOUR OF POWER.  Jane heads down into Roddy’s vault of vinyl every Monday at 6PM on Sydney’s Northside Radio FM99.3
The program is also heard via satellite around Australia on the Community Radio Network every Friday from 7PM.
Many of those 40 stations around Australia record Pop Heads and replay the show as a regularly scheduled program.

In each hour long show, Roddy covers specific topics relating to the music of the vinyl years covering the songwriters, Aussie favourites, and music of the late 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s

Listen to the most recent show broadcast, The K-Tel Record Selector Lottery,  as Roddy loads a K-Tel Record Selector with 24 albums and sets it in motion so Jane can make a blindfold pick and that selection becomes the LP to feature in the episode.

Catch up on some of the popular series that have included the 10 part Series: The Musical Wizards of Oz: Over 10 episodes, Roddy and Jane look back on the first 21 years of Aussie pop music, that’s 21 years of the songs we loved from 1959 through to 1979.  The first Rock and Roll stars and the Surf Scene through to Pub Rock. Yes, it’s J’OK to Midnight Oil.

We’ve kept available a very Special Hour of Power that brought together crew and band members of the iconic New York club CBGB. Pop Heads Roddy Lee and Jane Arakawa chat with Mike Insetta, bassist with CBGB house band Stuarts Hammer, CBGB sound designer Taxi Briell, club manager Charlie Martin and Talking Heads drummer Chris Franz. These four guys were crucial in the early days of CBGB – an opportunity that brought them in to the Pop Heads Vault of Vinyl.
